Putting out Stars

putting out stars

There is a galaxy of stars inside you;
Don’t be afraid of shining too bright

For all the times I quenched a star
With my lunar eclipse of diamond-cold daggers;

I’m sorry

We love imperfectly, us humans,
we don’t always say what we mean
or mean what we say

But once said,
Words are as immortal as the universe
they glide over eras, transcend space and time
despite attempts at forgive and forget;

I’m sorry

I could promise to always be a sun shining bright,
But I will offer no vacuous black holes
Instead just let the stars expand into supernovas;
no shadow will hide their glory.

Remember this, always, remember this.
